Description

The double girder light crane system is used when a single girder cannot carry the load or cover the span. Two parallel girders are joined by end carriages and travel on enclosed tracks; the electric chain hoist sits on a trolley frame between the two girders.

Because the hoist is mounted between the girders instead of underneath, the hook can be raised higher. In workshops with a low ceiling this gains valuable lifting height compared with a single girder crane of the same capacity.

The system uses the same track profiles, suspension fittings and power supply as our single girder light cranes, so both types can run in one installation. Flexible-track systems are rated up to 2 t and rigid-track systems up to 3 t. At these top capacities the double girder design is mandatory, and we also recommend it for spans above 8.5 m.

Double girder cranes are normally supplied with electric travel. A travel drive on each side keeps the crane square to the runway, and frequency control gives a soft start and stop.

Features

Two reinforced girders share the load, which takes the modular light crane system up to 3 t.

The hoist travels between the girders, so the hook lifts higher than on a single girder crane.

One travel drive on each end carriage prevents the crane from skewing on long girders.

Frequency-controlled travel starts and stops gently, which protects the load and the structure.

Tracks, suspensions and power supply are shared with the single girder and monorail versions, so an existing installation can be upgraded.
