30 Ton Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane for Conveyor Belt Manufacturing in Spain

In November 2025, Kinocranes completed production and shipment of a custom-engineered 30 Ton Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane for a conveyor belt manufacturer in Spain. The machine handles finished belt reels in an outdoor storage yard. Its overall height was fixed at 8m so that it clears the plant’s 9m workshop door, and every other dimension was worked out from that limit. The project reflects Kinocranes’s approach of designing around the constraint that cannot move rather than starting from a catalogue model.

Project Background and Requirements

The client manufactures industrial conveyor belting in Spain, covering textile, steel mesh and steel cord constructions supplied to cement plants, mines, ports and recycling operations. Belt is produced in long continuous lengths and wound onto reels; in the heavier constructions and larger widths a single finished reel is well beyond forklift handling and has to be lifted on its core. The reels are stored outdoors in the yard beside the plant, in rows packed tight because yard space is the site’s binding constraint.

The constraint that set the design

The client’s workshop door is 9 m high and the crane has to pass through it. Overall height was therefore treated as a fixed limit, not an output of the design. The delivered machine stands 8 m overall, leaving a working margin at the doorway.

The original enquiry specified a 30-ton capacity, a 4m span and a maximum overall height of 9m. Kinocranes reviewed the structure against that limit and proposed a 5m span at 8m overall height. Power supply was the other open point: the yard has no electrical distribution across its full working area, so a machine tied to a single supply point would only ever cover part of the storage. The crane was therefore configured to run from an onboard diesel generator set as well as mains electric.

Key Engineering Features

018 m overall height for workshop door clearance

Ground clearance, portal structure, girder depth, trolley and hook block were sized together so the machine reaches 8 m overall and still clears the 9 m doorway with a working margin.

025 m span carrying 30 tons

The enquiry asked for 4 m. Kinocranes proposed 5 m because the extra metre provides the girder depth needed to carry 30 tons within the height limit. Keeping the structure compact also holds wheel loads to 50 kN minimum and 140 kN maximum, which matters on a yard slab never built as a crane runway.

03Four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, in-situ rotation

All four wheels drive and all four steer, giving straight travel, left turn, right turn and rotation on the spot. In-situ rotation lets the crane reverse direction inside a storage aisle instead of driving out to open ground. Steering runs at 0.776 r/min — deliberately slow, because accuracy under load matters more than speed.

04Diesel generator set and mains dual power

Total installed power is 40.7 kW, which an onboard generator set carries comfortably. On diesel the crane reaches every part of the yard with no cable, festoon or reel; on mains supply it runs at lower cost and without engine noise. The generator was specified to the EU non-road emissions stage requested for the destination market.

05Pendant control plus wireless remote

Both are fitted. The pendant is the reliable fallback and the natural choice for maintenance, while the remote lets the operator stand where the load is actually visible — in a reel yard, rarely alongside the machine.

06Low hoisting and travel speeds for reel handling

Hoisting runs at 0–3.5 m/min and the trolley at 0–20 m/min. Both are slow by general-purpose crane standards, which suits a load that is heavy, round and unforgiving once it starts to swing.

Quality Assurance and Standards Compliance

Every Kinocranes crane is pre-assembled and load tested at the factory before shipment, so that fit and function are confirmed in our own workshop rather than on the customer’s site. The final review was matched against the agreed 30T capacity, 5m span, 5m lifting height, 8m overall height, A3 whole-machine and M3 hoisting duty groups, 40.7 kW installed power, dual diesel and mains supply, and the four-wheel drive and steering arrangement. Duty groups are stated to GB/T 3811, and FEM or ISO equivalents can be issued on request for European specification documents.

Why Choose Kinocranes for Your Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane?

Kinocranes supplies full-series crane products with professional engineering support, timely customer service and cost-effective prices. For this Spain project we completed requirement checking, structural review against a fixed height limit, model selection, drawing revision and re-approval, production scheduling, pre-assembly, load testing and shipment preparation, with the crane and the generator set despatched as separate consignments.

Installation and commissioning were carried out on site with a European partner engaged for transport, field work and ongoing technical support, backed by our engineering team. We would rather describe that arrangement plainly than imply a service network we do not operate ourselves. If you need a local partner identified before placing an order, ask for it during quotation.
