In November 2025, Kinocranes supplied a 10 Ton LDA Single Girder Overhead Crane to a mechanical and hydropower service company in Indonesia. The crane serves a sluice gate house on a water control structure, where it is used to raise and lower gate leaves for inspection and maintenance. The defining requirement was not the rated load but the travel: 15 m of lifting height on a 9 m span.

Project Background and Requirements
The client operates in mechanical and hydropower service work. The crane was required for a gate house on a water control structure — the building that sits above the sluice gates and houses the equipment used to lift them. Gate maintenance means withdrawing a heavy steel leaf from its guides, bringing it up to floor level for inspection or repair, and returning it accurately into the same guides.
The number that defines this crane
15 m of lift on a 9 m span. The hook has to travel farther down than the crane is wide, because the load does not sit on the floor — it sits in a gate chamber below it. That single ratio drives the hoist selection, the rope length, the drum, and the way the machine is operated.
The building was still under construction when the crane went in. Runway beams were set on concrete corbels and the crane was installed before the structure was closed up, which is the only practical sequence: once the walls and roof are finished there is no way to bring a 9 m girder into the bay. The customer also asked for a consistently fast response throughout the project, and that was treated as part of the scope rather than as a courtesy.

01Lifting height greater than the span
A workshop crane usually lifts a fraction of its span. Here the hook travels 15 m on a 9 m span, because gate leaves and stoplogs are withdrawn from a chamber below floor level rather than lifted off the slab. The rope length, drum capacity and hoist frame were selected around that travel, not around the rated load alone.

A 13 kW hoist motor at 7 m/min matches 10 t of load through this reeving. The speed is deliberately moderate: a gate leaf coming out of a wet chamber is heavy, guided and unforgiving, and hoisting speed buys nothing while control costs everything.
0336 V control voltage
Control circuits run at 36 V rather than mains voltage. In a gate house the air is permanently damp and operators work beside an open water chamber; keeping the control circuit at extra-low voltage is the cheapest safety decision on the whole machine.
04Epoxy zinc-rich primer with polyurethane topcoat
Not a default paint specification. A sluice gate house is a humid, splash-exposed environment for the whole life of the structure, so the steelwork was coated for corrosion service rather than for a dry workshop.
05Wireless remote control plus pendant
Both are fitted. The remote lets the operator stand clear of the gate opening and still see the load; the pendant remains the reliable fallback and the natural choice during maintenance.
06A3 duty group, matched to the actual work
Gate maintenance is intermittent. Specifying a heavier duty group would have added cost the customer would never recover in service, and we said so rather than selling up.
Installation and Commissioning
The crane was installed on its runway beams while the gate house was still a bare structure, then handed over once the building was finished. It is now in service: the hall is complete, the crane runs the full length of its runway, and hoisting, cross travel and long travel have all been proved on site. A red-amber-green status indicator at the girder end and the C-track festoon system running along the girder are both visible in service.

Every Kinocranes crane is pre-assembled and load tested at the factory before shipment, so that fit and function are confirmed in our own workshop rather than on the customer’s site. For this project the final review was matched against the agreed 10 T capacity, 9 m span, 15 m lifting height, A3 duty group, 380 V / 50 Hz / 3-phase supply with 36 V control circuit, and the specified corrosion protection system. Structural steel is Q235B; electrical components are Schneider, chosen so that replacements can be sourced locally rather than only from China.
